JDE Fixed Assets
Within the JDE Finance applications, fixed assets seems to be the poor relation. It's often the last application to be implemented, and when project time is running out, it's often the first thing to be pushed into "Phase II". And Phase II timing varies from undefined to sometime never.
The pressures of month end deadlines often see fixed asset processing being delayed or forgotten, and this results in integrity issues between general ledger and fixed assets.
Some fixed asset reports have the added complication that some data selections need to be embedded in the report design rather than just being entered on the data selections screen. This can present more issues for the uninitiated.
Then there is the complication of multiple ledger types for local/group/tax/statutory reporting, each with its' own depreciation set up.

JDE General Ledger
The JDE general ledger application is robust and straightforward.
However, issues can arise when there is a change in the year end date.
Over time, some sections of the Chart of Accounts can become overcrowded & unwieldly. The good news is that there are special tools within the JDE suite to renumber the Chart of Accounts with no loss of transaction history.
Sometimes changes in business processes require changes to the organisation structure within JDE. The business needs to be split into multiple divisions, or existing divisions need to be merged.
If a business is taken over, or sold by its' parent company to a new owner, there can be complex reporting requirements within the new group. Local reporting and group reporting need to run comfortably in tandem. This might require some structural changes to the organisation set up, or maybe it can be achieved by careful use of multiple ledger types and reporting codes.
